Artist Statement: Allie Kushnir is currently studying psychology and art at the University of Iowa. Her background in psychology is strongly reflected in her work through an interest in the relationship between anxiety and lack of control. The subjects of her pieces are figural and generally somewhat ambiguous in their meaning. The images often appear comical at first glance, but upon further reflection suggest something more complex.
